Professional Development
Training programmes are normally structured over the course of a three to five year period depending on the institution with which you are working. You will receive a registered Training Agreement and allocated a mentor as appropriate with the relevant professional institution. Some of WYG’s accredited programmes include The Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, Institution of Engineers Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management and working towards accreditation with many others. In order to develop the key competencies and attributes of your chosen profession, you will undertake Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in the form of attending Professional Institution Meetings, public meetings, in-house discussion groups, reading professional journals and other publications, CPD seminars etc.
We actively support a ‘learning culture’ in WYG and look for our people to ‘own their own development’ by driving forward and initiating development opportunities, whether through structured and supported ‘on the job’ training and new/increased responsibilities and opportunities or through self directed learning such as distance learning, e learning, sponsored study, lunch-time briefings, CPD events, secondments, mentoring and coaching arrangements etc.
