White Young Green is an official speaker at the CL:AIRE (Contaminated Land: Applications in Real Environments) Annual Project Conference at the Barbican Centre, London on the 23rd April 2008. Neil Fyfe, an Associate Director at WYG will be speaking at the conference on the multi-phase remediation of a former Dundee gas works using low temperature thermal desorption. The presentation is on the back of a Technology Demonstration Project (TDP) report for CL:AIRE presently being finalised for the thermal desorption remediation works undertaken.

Thermal desorption is an innovative technology which removes contaminants adhered to material by physical separation (desorption) and thermal oxidation of resulting gaseous contaminants. This is the first time that site-based thermal desorption technology has been used on a remediation project in Scotland and the first time that the technique has been successfully been used in the UK for treating gasworks waste. The technology enabled problematic coal tar materials to be rapidly treated and re-used on site.
