BT ensures compliance with expert help - 11/7/2012

WYG has delivered the first 1,000 reports following the re-inspection of BT properties in England and Wales for asbestos.
Appointed in September 2011 to a three-year programme, global multi-disciplinary consultancy WYG has completed site re-inspections of BT’s properties in England and Wales, examining the condition of asbestos materials and identifying any actions that BT need to take.
The next stage of work includes re-inspecting asbestos materials in BT’s properties across Northern Ireland and Scotland and delivering more than 3,000 further reports.
Nick Wilson, Senior Asbestos Consultant & Project Manager, WYG said: “The regular inspection of these materials by trained and competent individuals is a requirement of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Our team of nationwide consultants undertaking each inspection will be assisting BT in their legislative compliance.
“We look forward to continuing our work with BT as we aim to complete the re-inspections across Northern Ireland and Scotland in late autumn 2014.”
Chris Whitcomb, Compliance Policy, Programmes and System Manager, BT Property said: “The health and safety of our people is imperative and we are confident with WYG’s strong track record in asbestos services that we have employed the right experts to safeguard our employees.”
In the last 20 years WYG has provided advice to public and private sector clients including the Ministry of Justice, NHS Trusts and a variety of local authorities from a network of regional offices.
