25 May 2017
We are proud to celebrate World Africa Day today, 25th May and will be joining in with the theme, “Harnessing the demographic dividend through investments in youth”.
Africa is on the march towards a more prosperous future in which all its citizens, young, old, male, female, rural, urban, of all creeds and backgrounds are empowered to realise their full potential, live with satisfaction and pride about their continent. A future with healthy, well educated people living in robust and developed economies.
Our international development projects are helping realise that vision, of which we are immensely proud. We take this opportunity to highlight a few projects below and meet the team behind them.
With governance being one of our focal sectors in this area, we are currently undertaking the independent evaluation of the Zambia Accountability Programme (ZAP). The five-year programme targets the improvement of public goods and services delivery in Zambia. The evaluation will identify gaps in the evidence related to democracy and accountability interventions and address these gaps. WYG has employed and developmental evaluation approach as opposed to the conventional evaluation which involves undertaking a baseline survey, formative evaluation and summative evaluation.
WYG is also currently involved with implementing a three-year governance programme ‘Zanzibar Non-State Actors Support Programme’. The programme aims at greater involvement and effective participation of women and youth in local governance and democratisation issues and the strengthening of the civil society sector.
As project managers, the team will manage and implement a comprehensive capacity development programme through grants and technical support to non-state actors intended to strengthen their internal governance and ability to effectively engage in policy dialogue with government at all levels.
