Our work in defence and justice supports the armed forces, the police and the criminal justice system in the UK as well as helping to stabilise and improve facilities for security and justice in countries struggling with the consequences of poverty and war.
We are agile and able to bring together elite teams that make a positive difference to our clients.
In the UK, we work through frameworks with a number of major government departments, including the Ministries of Defence and Justice (who we’ve worked with for more than 20 years), the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Greater Manchester Police and the Northern Ireland Central Procurement Department
Our skilled consultants succeed in challenging, often hostile environments
Our approach is truly multidisciplinary, bringing together project and cost managers, planners, engineers and designers and a broad range of WYG’s technical specialists committed to deliver the challenging targets set by the Government Construction Strategy. To this end, we are carrying out several Cabinet Office Construction Trial Projects to explore areas such as new models of procurement, Integrated Project Insurance, BIM, Lean and ‘Soft Landings’.
Our team is currently delivering a £1.8bn army rebasing programme which is the largest reorganisation of the UK defence estate since the 1930s.
Enabling crisis zone regeneration and stability
Our defence and justice capabilities are the cornerstone of our ability to help Fragile and Conflict Affected States.
Working primarily through Department for International Development and international donor funding agencies, we help to establish security, rule of law and systems of justice.
Whilst our UK troops were in Afghanistan, we provided a Civilian Engineering Support Team across all UK military bases. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia we’re helping to bolster the judicial system by improving the number and standard of prisons.
Duty of care
We select only the highest quality and best-equipped people for each assignment. Our duty of care strategies ensure we keep them healthy, safe and secure no matter where projects take them.
This enables us to work in the most challenging of environments and be an ongoing support to the defence and justice sector.
