Hazel Gillings Associate

Hazel is an Associate in WYG's Geo-environment team, and manages the regional environmental due diligence offering based in Leeds. The UK-wide team provides commercially focused environmental due diligence support to parties involved in corporate, financial and property transactions.

With over 14 years’ experience in the environmental sector, Hazel has been involved in a range of contaminated land investigation and risk assessment projects. She has lead and managed the Environmental Due Diligence Assessment of land and property to assist in many property transactions and refinancing exercises for divestiture and acquisition. 

Her Environmental Due Diligence project experience includes undertaking and managing single site and portfolios of desk based Phase I and Operational Compliance environmental assessments in the UK, Europe and Worldwide. She also has considerable project management and portfolio management experience and undertakes peer reviews, gap analysis and dataroom reviewing. Additionally, she holds expertise in supporting the Environmental Insurance sector. She is commercially focused, providing support on environmental risk quantification and management strategies, as well as business resilience and future proofing initiatives to protect client assets.

Hazel has managed multiple major multi-site transactions in the industrial, manufacturing, commercial and medical sectors. Her key skills include the project management and direction of transaction support, ensuring effective delivery of environmental assessments (data room reviews and gap analysis, desk study and Phase I & II environmental site assessments) of large portfolios of properties often located worldwide, scheduling within short timetables. Client deliverables include the assessment of the potential environmental liabilities associated with company activities and costs relating to non-compliance with current and future environmental legislation.
