In the wake of construction shifting into full gear on Southern Regional College's Armagh Campus, the project has been named Procurement Innovation/Initiative of the Year at the UK GO Awards. The ceremony was held in Manchester on 24th April.
The award recognises innovative ways of procuring supply chains, including early engagement and implementation of collaborative working arrangements. We’re proud to be managing the delivery of this £35 state-of-the-art facility, which will provide shared educational and sporting facilities for up to 4,000 students.
In supporting procurement for the project, we helped create innovative approaches to delivering the project’s full potential. This included the appointment of a BIM change manager and the implementation of BIM Level 2 pre-dating the UK Government’s Construction 2025 strategy.
We also helped deliver on many creative requirements, including, but not limited to, the following:
Caolain Boyd, Project Manager at WYG, attended the award and commented on the win: “In a category with 13 shortlisted projects, this award spells great recognition for the teams involved and their incredibly hard work with the client, as well as our approach to procurement.”
Armagh campus works are expected to finish in 2020. In addition to WYG providing multidisciplinary services from Project Management and engineering to planning, acoustics and BIM Information Manager for Armagh, the team is now progressing the procurement of the next SRC campus in Banbridge, Co Down.
