A team of WYG cyclists, including a strong contingent of our Edinburgh architecture and landscape architecture colleagues, has completed a 190 mile bike ride to raise over £4,000 for The Royal British Legion.
Over three days, between the 2nd and 4th June, the team rode from Tynemouth to Edinburgh. The initial leg took them from Tynemouth to Seahouses on the Northumbrian Coast pedalling against a brisk head wind. Taking a turn to the west on the second day the team rode back into Scotland facing the challenges of the ‘rolling’ terrain across the 74 mile strectch in to Melrose. After making a final crossing of the Tweed on day three the team were spurred on their way by the Innerleithen Pipe Band before crossing over the Moorfoot Hills into Lothian.
Taking an assertive approach to the tourists on the Royal Mile, the ride finished in the sunshine of the Castle Esplanade in Edinburgh.
