11 October 2016
Craig Hatch, our Head of Asset Management discipline attended the Wellchild Awards held in London on the 3rd October.
The annual awards celebrate the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people along with dedicated health professionals who go that extra mile and really make a difference; something that Craig has done admirably.
Last year, as part of the WellChild Parent Advisory Group (PAG), Craig helped launched the #notanurse_but social media campaign which gives parents and carers the voice they need to shine a light on the reality of life at home, showing us what is working well and highlighting the changes so desperately needed.
Across the UK, thousands of parents, like Craig and his wife Ellis, are delivering increasingly high levels of medical care to children and young people with serious illness and exceptional health needs, just so that they can be together at home as a family. The level of care that many of these families have to provide behind closed doors, is, unfortunately, often seen and misunderstood.
Craig was chosen alongside his son Fraser and wife Ellis, as a VIP for the recent WellChild Awards 2016 and were fortunate to meet a host of celebrities including Dick & Dom, Gaby Roslin, Sir Rod Stewart and HRH Prince Harry.
The #notanurse_but campaign received the ‘Special Achievement Award’ in recognition of its contribution to the charity’s aims.
Craig was interviewed by ITV News and you can watch the video here.
