10 July 2015
On Friday 10th July, Cumbria Nuclear Solutions Limited (CNSL), a partnership comprising James Fisher Nuclear Ltd, REACT Engineering Ltd, Shepley Engineers Ltd, Jacobs Stobbarts Ltd, Westinghouse Electric Company and WYG Engineering Ltd, will host a charity cricket match to raise much needed funds for the ‘Friends of Chernobyl’s Children’ (FOCC) charity.
Starting at 3.00pm at the Cockermouth Cricket Club, the event will involve all six CNSL partners competing in cricket matches, alongside some fun cricket and football coaching for the charity’s children. The event coincides with the last day of this year’s visit for the children from Belarus, who are currently in West Cumbria staying with various host families while taking advantage of all that the Lake District has to offer.
Richard Arnott, a Director of CNSL partner WYG and Vice Chair of the FOCC NW Cumbria Charity said: “CNSL is really proud to support the local nuclear sector and we believe it is absolutely vital that we also play an active part in the community in which we operate, including charitable causes.
“I have personally been involved with the Friends of Chernobyl’s Children charity for four years and during that time we have welcomed over 30 children to West Cumbria from Belarus, providing them with a chance to experience the Lake District and gain some life enhancing experiences. CNSL and the charity both want these annual visits to be able to continue for many years to come and this can only be possible with the help and support of local business, local people and our volunteer network. CNSL is delighted to be able to play our part and we hope to raise lots of money on the day as well as having a thoroughly enjoyable cricket match.”
CNSL would like to thank all the local businesses supporting the event, most notably W Lindsay & Sons who are supporting catering on the day, and the Cockermouth Cricket Club for hosting the event.
The children from the FOCC Charity will visit the cricket event around 6pm providing an opportunity for photographs. Media are welcome to attend and should register in advance with the press contacts below.
