Leicester City Council, with support from WYG, were among the winners for the Connecting Leicester project at this year’s ProCon (Property and Construction) Awards, held on Thursday 12th November at The King Power Stadium, Leicester.
The awards now in their thirteenth year, recognise the highest standards of architecture and construction in the Leicestershire and Rutland areas.
The Connecting Leicester project won the ‘Regeneration Project of the Year Award’
Connecting Leicester is a major initiative aimed at linking the city centre with tourist and major academic destinations through the introduction of high quality public realm schemes. To date this has included the creation of a new public open space known as Jubilee Square, Cathedral Gardens and multiple new cycle lanes to encourage and promote cycling activity across the city.
Steve Richards, Associate, WYG has been part of the project team supporting the City Council in the delivery of these schemes during the past 2 years. On receiving the award he said: ‘We are proud to have been part of the team and recognise the importance the scheme has provided in transforming this part of the city.’
