A scheme to deliver 529 homes in Alton, Hampshire, has been approved by East Hampshire District Council.Chris Hemmings, Planning Associate-Director, WYG, comments: “The scheme will deliver much needed housing in Alton, including 20 percent affordable homes and a new 10 hectare Country Park for the town as well as improvements to the local roads, schools and leisure facilities. We are delighted that Members supported the application."
WYG’s Planning team in Southampton first started work on this project in 1998 on behalf of Harvington Properties at Borovere Farm. More recently, the scheme expanded to incorporate the Homes & Communities Agency’s land at Lord Mayor Treloar.
Thanks to the collaborative working arrangement between the landowners, two major local infrastructure issues have been unlocked: the Butts Bridge junction improvements, including the widening of a railway bridge owned by Mid Hants Railway, and the funding of the new Alton Sports Centre.
WYG offers a unique breadth of in-house expertise and consultancy services, which enables a thoroughly integrated approach to most projects, and covers environment, geo-environment, engineering, planning, transport, management services, as well as urban & landscape design.
