Steve Mustow, Senior Director in WYG’s Environment Discipline, explains the process of conducting Environment Impact Assessments (EIAs) which determine the various impacts that arise to the environment as a result of development.
What is an EIA?
EIA is an analytical procedure that systematically examines the potential environmental effects of the implementation of projects. EIA is a multi-phase process, an important part of which is to develop mitigation measures that address any negative effects.
We are a registered Environmental Impact Assessor Member of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment) through their EIA Quality Mark scheme. Our approach to EIA is to develop pragmatic and cost-effective solutions that enable development to take place while protecting, and where possible enhancing, the environment.
