5 January 2016
We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Signet Planning Limited on 5th January 2016.
This acquisition enables WYG to expand its Planning and Urban & Landscape Design offering across the UK, in particular to take advantage of the significant opportunities in London, and the North and North East regions.
Signet Planning is a well respected and growing planning and urban design consultancy. It was established by Simon Chadwick, James Hobson and Ian Rowe in 2005 and now employs 37 staff operating from offices in Harrogate, London, Manchester, Newcastle and Nottingham.
The acquisition is part of a planned strategy of growth that follows on from the merger with Alliance Planning, in September 2014, and the more recent acquisitions of FMW Consultancy, North Associates (Cumbria) and Taylor & Hardy, in 2015.
The combined team is well positioned to achieve further growth, especially in the London commercial development market, the residential sector generally, and through opportunities driven by the UK government’s Northern Powerhouse agenda.
Signet Planning’s clients include: Quintain, Peveril Securities, Arena Racing, Story Homes and JD Wetherspoon.
Simon Chadwick, Managing Director, Signet Planning, commented:
“We already have a long-standing relationship with WYG having worked alongside some of its senior staff for several years. We have a complementary ethos and approach to our work and the acquisition promises to bring great benefit to both our staff and our clients. Together we are a far stronger team and are all very excited about this opportunity to enhance our services in key infrastructure, residential and regeneration markets.”
Steve Fidgett, Head of Planning, WYG, commented:
“We are delighted to welcome Signet Planning to WYG. The strong strategic fit between our teams will bring tremendous benefits to our respective clients and will significantly accelerate our growth across the UK.”
Paul Hamer, Chief Executive Officer, WYG commented:
"We are delighted to be joined by Simon Chadwick, and his colleagues in Signet Planning. We are confident that they will be a significant enhancement to WYG’s planning and urban & landscape design capabilities.
Following our recent acquisitions of Alliance Planning, FMW Consultancy and North Associates, we now have more than 140 planning specialists representing one of the largest teams in the UK. This leading market position leaves us well placed to take advantage of the strong demand we expect for these specialist skills within a buoyant UK market for property and infrastructure development.”
