Construction & Procurement Delivery (CPD) within the Department of Finance Northern Ireland has appointed WYG to a £6m framework for the provision ground investigation works.
Following a competitive procurement exercise undertaken by CPD, our team will operate as one of two contractors on the four-year framework to support a wide array of public sector bodies in Northern Ireland (NI). This will include the provision of ground investigation site works and surveys, site instrumentation and monitoring, geotechnical and geo-environmental testing, and factual and interpretative reporting.
Of the four lots on the framework, our team has been appointed to Lots 1, 2 and 3, covering works across the northern, western, and eastern regions of NI. A wide range of public sector bodies can access the framework from sectors spanning road, rail, health, and construction, to name a few.
Michael Boyd, Head of Geo-Environment at WYG, said: ”We are thrilled to have been awarded three lots of this framework and we look forward to working closely with CPD to lend our expertise in the ground investigation sector. This is an important framework for us, not only regionally but nationally for our well-established ground investigation team.”
Dr Kaine Lynch, Head of Geotechnical Engineering Branch at CPD, said: ”It’s great to have this important framework awarded and we look forward to working with both framework contractors in delivering a high-quality ground investigation service for NI public sector bodies.”
Conor Lydon, Associate Director and Belfast Team Manager at WYG, added: “This is one of the most significant geo-environmental frameworks in NI working across the major public sector organisations. Securing this framework is great news for our already significant local team of 20 geo-environmental experts in Belfast and will enable us to grow and develop with confidence going forward.”
With over a hundred specialists ready to support this framework across our WYG offices, this appointment will further contribute to the continued expansion of our geo-environmental discipline.
