We are pleased to announce the appointment of Adrian French as Director of Planning (Energy and Infrastructure), who will be based at our offices in Southampton. The new role supports WYG’s further expansion into energy, utility and infrastructure projects across the UK.
Adrian, who has 28 years’ planning experience, joins from AGR Renewables where he oversaw the planning and development of the company’s portfolio of wind farm and solar park developments. Before this, he was a director at Terence O’Rourke Limited where he worked for sixteen years on a range of energy and infrastructure projects.
He is a chartered town planner as well as a chartered waste manager, chartered environmentalist and member of the Institute of Quarrying.
Steven Fidgett, Head of Planning UK at WYG, said: “We are delighted that Adrian is joining us at what is an exciting time for the energy and infrastructure sectors. The Government is focused on stimulating post recession growth and investment in these areas which presents a range of new opportunities for WYG.”
Adrian said: “Whilst there is currently a shift of emphasis under this Government away from subsidising certain renewables, they still have an important role to play alongside gas and nuclear. Our focus is on helping current and new clients find cost-effective solutions to their development aspirations across the energy sector.”
Adrian is an active member of RenewableUK, Scottish Renewables and the National Infrastructure Planning Association.
WYG ranks amongst the top planning consultancies across the UK, with over 115 planners located in 14 offices.
