We are thrilled to be celebrating success following the National Grid Property Awards 2017 where we scooped the award for Most Innovative Property Project.
The accolade recognises the innovative approach adopted for the successful remediation closure strategy at the Heworth Green site in York. WYG led the project, on behalf of National Grid Property, which was implemented by WSP Remediation and supported by Aecom.
The project involved detailed characterisation and assessment of a deep groundwater source to demonstrate that environmental risks were at an acceptable low level and that it complied with National Grid’s land sale policy.
The team overcame earlier site constraints, which had historically hampered the necessary level of investigation and remediation necessary to achieve regulatory agreement and comply with National Grid policy.
Marc Davies, Divisional Director, Planning & Advisory Services, WYG, collected the award and commended: “Our continuous collaboration with National Grid Property goes back over 20 years, and we are extremely proud of this award, which recognises excellence in National Grid Property’s supply chain.”
Jonathan Boyes, Associate Director, WYG, added: “We are delighted with this award win. Through collaborative working, we ensured best practice for the site in York delivering an innovative and sustainable approach that avoided costly remedial intervention and accelerated redevelopment of the site for residential use.”
The National Grid Property Awards were held on 10th May 2017 at Hilton Hotel, Bankside in London and welcomed industry leading consultants, designers and contractors, all associated with delivering National Grid Property projects.
