On behalf of developer C G Fry and Son Limited, our planning team in Wellington, Somerset has secured outline permission for 650 new homes on the edge of Wellington, 25 per cent of which will be for affordable housing.
The site at Jurston is part of a mixed-use urban extension. WYG had previously secured an allocation for the site in the Taunton Deane Borough Council Core Strategy and prepared a development brief, which was adopted by the Council, to guide development of the land. Our planners co-ordinated extensive public consultation with the local community, including on the development brief.
The new development will also include:
David Lohfink, Land and Planning Director at C G Fry and Son, said: “WYG’s innovative planning and hard work has helped to create a high quality, urban extension that supports the housing needs of Wellington. Development of the site will represent an efficient use of land with high quality design, creating a genuinely integrated community and an attractive environment.”
Robin Upton, WYG Planning Director, said: “We are delighted to be seeing all our hard work come to fruition, from the allocation of the site in the Council’s Core Strategy, the production and adoption of the Development Brief and now the approval of outline planning permission. The planning team is now working on the reserved matters application that will provide details for the first phases of the development.”
WYG has also provided urban design services in connection with the preparation of the adopted Development Brief for the site.
