WYG has scooped two major awards at the APM Project Management Awards, held on 20th November at Old Billingsgate in London.
The APM awards recognise the professional management of complex projects and programmes both in the UK and overseas. Both of our awards were received by Andrew Fotherby, Divisional Director at WYG, and Dave Corbin, Head of Project Management at WYG.
We received the Project of the Year: Specialists award for our work on a new Road/Rail Transfer Point at Glen Douglas. Working on behalf of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, the project allowed us to demonstrate a breadth of our project management and multidisciplinary design services by replacing deteriorating infrastructure and enabling the reinstatement of critical military capability.
Likewise, our Building Back Better work with Community Action Nepal was recognised as Social Project of the Year. The project has involved supporting CAN’s efforts to rebuild essential infrastructure in Nepalese local communities to provide new and replacement health care and education facilities after the devastating 2015 earthquakes.
Andrew commented on the big win: “This is a fantastic recognition of the strategy we’ve set out to deliver the highest standard of projects and services for our clients.”
Dave added the following: “To see this kind of recognition for not just one, but two projects, is a great pride for the team, and it will only bolster our resolve to continue going above and beyond in delivering the level of service our clients expect from us.”
As we celebrate the APM Awards’ recognition of our talented project management, our support for CAN continues. We are sponsoring an art exhibition in London, entitled “Doug Scott – High Exposure,” which will feature impressive photography relating the 8,000-metre ascent atop Mount Everest by CAN founder and mountaineering legend, Doug Scott. The exhibition at the D Contemporary Gallery will open to the public on 1st December.
