We have secured planning permission for the first of three new primary schools at Alconbury Weald as part of a proposed 5000-home new community on the site of the former Alconbury Airfield. The primary school is required as part of the legal agreement and outline planning permission.
WYG’s planners worked with Morgan Sindall and AHMM Architects on behalf of the client, Cambridgeshire County Council, to ensure that the school was fully integrated within the overall masterplan. They produced and managed the planning and engagement strategy and the final Planning and Heritage Statement, and project managed the planning application process; speaking on behalf of the client at the committee meeting to secure the planning permission.
Lisa Skinner, director, who led the planning work said: “We are very proud to have been involved with this project which is the first community building on the site. The committee decision was unanimous and the project team was congratulated on setting high standards for the rest of the development on the site.”
WYG ranks amongst the top planning consultancies across the UK, with over 115 planners located in 14 offices. It has an extensive portfolio of education work as well as being active in key sectors such as residential, urban regeneration, energy, retail, healthcare and infrastructure.
