White Young Green is pleased to announce the acquisition of Cetec Consultancy Limited (CETEC), a small niche market structural consultancy turning over approximately £0.5m of business per annum. CETEC is a privately owned business based in Southampton employing 13 people. It offers specialist structural engineering and project management services to customers throughout the country and is a recognised authority on application and use of polymer-based composite materials.
CETEC will provide WYG with complementary niche skills including finite element analysis particularly in the context of specialist structures utilising innovative composite materials. It offers WYG access to a broad range of high profile professionals and clients actively supporting the development of new technologies in the field of structural materials.
Typical projects within the construction sector undertaken by CETEC include the following:
- Fabric Canopies - Oracle Shipping Centre, Reading
- Fabric Canopies - Royal Quays Shopping Centre, Newcastle
- FRP Igloos - Greenland Tourist Centre
- Overhead Gantries - Highways Agency
- Fabric Screen - Luton Arts Centre
- Air Traffic Control Tower Roof - Harare International Airport
CETEC also provide consultancy services in the context of marine vessels utilising polymer-based composite materials. David Kendall, previously Managing Director of CETEC Ltd, joins WYG as Director of Specialist Structures. It is intended that the ex-CETEC staff will co-locate with existing WYG staff in Southampton during the course of 2004.
