WYG has strengthened its growing specialism of Anaerobic Digestion with the appointment of expert Dr Kevin Monson.
Kevin has over ten years experience in the anaerobic digestion field. Having been widely used as a wastewater treatment option, it is now rapidly evolving as a means of diverting many solid organic wastes from landfil. After completing his PhD, titled ‘The effect of various control actions on anaerobic digestion performance’, Kevin was employed by the University of Glamorgan as a Post-Doctoral Researcher, his main project being a comprehensive review of the anaerobic digestion of biodegradable municipal wastes in Europe, carried out on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government.
Ben Arnold, Director of Waste at WYG said: “We believe that Anaerobic Digestion forms an important part of sustainable waste management. With his valuable technical expertise in this field, we are pleased that Kevin has joined the team, where he will grow our anaerobic digestion services.”
More recently, Kevin has been active in the private sector, combining industrial water treatment with anaerobic digestion consultancy. As well as a PhD level knowledge of the microbiology and biochemistry of anaerobic digestion processes, Kevin’s career to date has allowed him to develop a sound knowledge in all aspects of anaerobic digestion and related areas.
