Environmental specialists from WYG Environment have secured a three-year framework agreement with Clackmannanshire Council to deliver environmental consultancy services across the Scottish county.
The Council is obligated to investigative areas within its ownership, under Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act. WYG’s specialists have consistently delivered value for its clients on these types of projects throughout Scotland and the UK.
Brendan Grant, WYG Project Director said: “Within the land portfolio under consideration, there are a few key priority sites to be investigated that have an industrial heritage relating to former gasworks. Through our considerable experience of investigating and remediating several large gasworks sites in Scotland, WYG is in a strong position to provide the Council with pragmatic investigation and risk assessment services, bolstered by innovative and sustainable remedial solutions.
“Establishing strong relations with the Council will also allow us to better understand their needs as a regulator in the performance of their statutory duties. This will have a reciprocal benefit for our property and regeneration clients when assessing their potential environmental liabilities under Part IIA and when launching applications under the Planning Regime.”
The consultants will deliver environmental services which include contaminated land desk based studies, site investigation, risk assessment and remediation.
David Crichton-Miller, Managing Director WYG Environment Planning Transport added: “This project will further strengthen our Local Authority Part IIA portfolio, principally within the central belt of Scotland. Our focus is to be the best in class consultant in all that we do; this project will enable us to build stronger relationships with Scottish Local Authorities, and continue to reinforce those client relationships we already hold.”
