Freeman’s Quay project is Wins RICS North East Award and is Highly Commended by the Constructing Excellence awards.
Keepmoat Partnership Ltd, supported by WYG, has won the prestigious RICS North East Renaissance Award in the category of Design & Innovation for work on the Freeman’s Quay project, a £12.5m pool and leisure complex.
The Renaissance Awards recognises inspirational initiatives and developments in land, property, construction and the environment. The judges consider all aspects of the buildings and projects entered, from design and planning, to construction and the look and feel of the finished product.
The project, which has only recently been completed on site, was designed to provide a landmark facility for the people of Durham and has also been Highly Commended by the Constructing Excellence Awards in the Project of the Year, North East region category.
WYG provided a wide and thorough range of services, from advice on initial soil sampling to the main design and submission of elements in accordance with ACE Conditions of Engagements. Working as a multi disciplinary team, WYG Environment provided an updated site investigation with WYG Engineering building on this and developing the rest of the project to a stage just before completion.
Chairman of the judges David Furniss, a chartered surveyor and Head of Atisreal’s Newcastle Office, said: "It’s great to see such high standards of design and construction right here in the North East, there is some fantastic work being done which deserves to be championed and celebrated.”
