Restoration Project for Llandetty Bridge, Wales Recognised by Industry Accolade.
The Forestry Commission (Wales) has been Highly Commended in the Historic Bridge and Infrastructure Awards for the restoration of Llandetty Bridge, Crickhowell, Wales.
The historic, original stone Llandetty Bridge sits over one of Britain’s most scenic waterways. The preservation of the bridge was of paramount importance to The Forestry Commission of Wales who appointed WYG to identify a solution to maintain the structure. Following a detailed assessment it was confirmed that the load carrying capacity of the bridge’s arch would be adequate if it was carefully repaired and maintained.
WYG provided engineering services for a programme of work on the original masonry arch which included repairs to the arch, abutments and wingwalls and rebuilding the parapets.
