West Ewell Infant School is the latest school in Surrey to benefit from WYG’s project management offering as work prepares to begin on a major expansion.
The project, expected to start in July 2012, will see the multi-disciplinary consultant managing and designing West Ewell Infant School’s expansion project in two phases, which will allow the school to expand to a four form entry infant school. Phase one includes remodelling of the existing space to provide an extra classroom and improved WC facilities.
Phase two, which is currently in the feasibility stage and anticipated to be finished in August 2013, will provide improved facilities and much needed additional learning space for the increasing number of children in the area. Once complete, the project will allow the School to take on an extra 90 pupils in total.
Dave Corbin, Regional Director, WYG said: “We have recently facilitated the completion of a number of other projects in Surrey including Ashley Church of England Primary School’s expansion scheme.
“We are delighted to continue this success and to be working with West Ewell Infant School which is an opportunity to provide not only the additional classrooms required, but to address day-to-day issues the school currently face and make a big difference for years to come.
“The school has challenged us to provide improved facilities that preserve their family working ethos and promote the school’s inclusive atmosphere. We look forward to working with the school and its wider community in meeting this challenge.”
Lindsay Handcock, Head Teacher, West Ewell Infant School said: “West Ewell Infant School are delighted to be working with WYG on this exciting expansion project. We are looking forward to developing the plans to both improve the school’s current facilities and provide additional classrooms for the extra children who will be joining us over the next three years.”
Throughout the project the award-winning consultancy will draw upon other expertise from the company including WYG’s in-house cost consultants, CDM coordinators, engineers and ecologists. The WYG team is supported by local supply chain partners, Fairhursts Design Group and Nicholas Owen Associates.
