Expert consultants from WYG have given the go ahead for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to occupy its new Joint Headquarters building on Northwood Headquarters site in Middlesex.
WYG Management Services is working for Eastbury Park Ltd (PFI) as ‘Independent Certifier’ of the buildings which means the consultants need to impartially assess them for handover and occupation.
The circa £160m PFI project will provide new assets and infrastructure including office and operational buildings, community facilities and living accommodation, and substantial refurbishment to some existing buildings.
Clive Anderson, Managing Director, WYG Management Services, said: “We have a track record of providing creative solutions to some of the world’s most challenging projects. We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious project that continues our strategic relationship with the MoD.
“Our team assesses the construction stages at given milestones of the project with the prime objective of certifying completion on behalf of our client, Eastbury Park Ltd, so that the MoD is able to take beneficial occupation. We have added significant value to the end quality by developing robust procedures” he added.
The consultant is working alongside the client reporting formally to them on areas including, architecture, construction, building services, ICT infrastructure and health and safety.
The build phase of the project is expected to be completed in August 2011.
