Bill is a chartered civil engineer with 37 years’ experience in engineering design across a wide range of projects in the public and private sectors. He is an acknowledged authority in highway materials and has led teams managing the maintenance of trunk roads and motorways for both the Highways Agency and various Local Authorities.
Bill was Design Project Manager, Bid Manager and Expert Witness for the award winning A453 improvement scheme and delivered the traffic management phasing strategy and project management of the flagship Haymarket Bus Station redevelopment as part of the ‘Connecting Leicester’ initiative. Outside the UK he has provided technical advice on major EU-funded highway schemes in Albania and Georgia and also worked on schemes in Saudi Arabia, Ireland and Egypt.
He has a wide range of experience in the roles of client, consultant and contractor and as a result, is able to appreciate the differences between them. He uses this experience to build relationships and actively encourages partnering and collaboration in order to exceed briefs and achieve best value. As a Project Manager or Lead Designer, his approach is honest and open, allowing contributions from all members of the design team.
Bill is a natural innovator and is constantly seeking to find better ways of doing things whether this is in design, management or the use of novel materials or processes. At the same time, he is aware that some clients have certain ways of doing things and is quick to learn and adapt to meet these requirements.
