B.Sc. Civil Engineering
David is a highly experienced engineering project manager/director with over 30 years of experience in leading major projects in the maritime, highways, engineering and development sectors. As well as directing the successful delivery of a range of high profile projects, he has successfully managed and developed multidisciplinary civil engineering teams on major infrastructure schemes throughout the UK.
Prior to joining WYG he built his skills, with organisations such as Mowbray Associates and Halcrow Group, on a diverse portfolio of high calibre engineering projects that includes the Ely Southern Bypass, the £160m upgrading of the A453 for the Highways Agency and waterfront projects at Dundee, Port of Blyth and the Thames Barrier.
David’s approach is to provide effective interventions and practical operational plans to support development strategies. He is an excellent communicator at all levels with a comprehensive understanding of finance, business development, project planning and delivery.
He is also highly committed to improving the performance of the construction industry and has initiated and delivered a broad range of forward looking changes. David has held the positions of Chairman of Constructing Excellence in the North East, Vice President of the Construction Industry Council and Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers, North East. He is currently a member of the Teesside University Industrial Liaison Group promoting closer ties between academia and the engineering industry.
