John is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 25 years experience in Civil and Structural Engineering. He has considerable experience of project work that is sited within the historic environment and over the past 14 years has held a key role as Project Manager and Lead Project Engineer on a number of large Grade I, II* and II Listed Building repair, restoration and new build heritage projects.
He has also worked on a variety of Scheduled Ancient Monuments and has a robust understanding of the statutory processes involved on works to historic building and structures. In 2004 he completed and passed a post graduate diploma in the Conservation of Historic Buildings at the Architectural Association in London. In 2005, John became CARE accredited within both the Institution of Civil and Structural Engineers as a fully qualified ‘Conservation Engineer’.
John works on a range of projects around the country and co-ordinates the input of other disciplines within WYG on Heritage project work.
Along with his Engineering expertise, John has provided Heritage and Conservation Planning advice on many Heritage Appraisals and Conservation Management Plans on sites that range from Royal Commission Forts, Medieval Castles, Civic Buildings, City Walls and other elements of our Social, Industrial and Military Heritage. This role has been further enhanced through his involvement as Heritage Advisor on a number of Master-Planning projects where the developable area has a significant value in terms of its Cultural Heritage.
