Richard Pearson Principal Engineer, Transport

Richard has over 18 years of experience and currently provides road safety expertise to the design teams at WYG with many current active travel design projects.  He has held key roles on a number of high-profile design and feasibility projects across Scotland and offers experience in practical application of current best practice, innovation of design feasibility and road safety.

His main role within WYG is a Road Safety Engineer managing a number of projects for both private and public sector clients. 

Richard sits on the City of Edinburgh Council Active Travel Forum and is also on the CIHT Committee for the Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA).

Richard project experience includes:

  • Cumbernauld Cycle Route Assessment Study
  • Broad Way Park, Car Park Assessment and Design
  • Broken Cross Wind Farm, Abnormal Load Route Assessment
  • Glasgow South City Way Cycle Scheme
  • Over 600 Road Safety Audits on a variety of scheme types
  • Numerous Quality Audits in line with Designing Streets/ Manual for Streets
