Associate of Chartered Institute for Archaeologists
Simon has 29 years’ experience in the archaeological, construction and environmental sectors delivering projects for both public sector and private sector clients.
He now leads our UK-wide archaeology and heritage team where he provides a strong commercial focus combined with a strategic approach to multidisciplinary working and client engagement.
Prior to joining WYG, Simon led the archaeology and heritage team at Parsons Brinckerhoff (now WSP) and also set up and managed the heritage consultancy businesses at Scott Wilson and Mouchel.
He has worked on several major infrastructure projects, for clients including the MOD, property developers and local development agencies. On all of these he demonstrates a keen ability to identify risks at early stage and develop practical strategies for the assessment, procurement, management, implementation and monitoring of archaeological and built heritage fieldwork. He is also frequently called upon to act as expert witness at Public Inquiry and Development Consent Order hearings.
Simon’s wide experience and acute knowledge of planning and developer requirements ensures early identification of project constraints, and potential costs, and a consistent approach that encompasses all aspects of the historic environment.
