Bargate Homes and VIVID are proposing a 100% affordable housing development of up to 100 homes between Newgate Lane East and Bridgemary.
A public exhibition took place on Wednesday 18th September, 3-8pm at St Matthew’s Church, Wych Lane, Gosport, PO13 0NL
This exhibition is part of a public consultation process that we are undertaking. We are keen to hear your views and discuss our initial proposals with you. Feedback received during this process will be considered to help shape the proposals before any planning applications are submitted to Fareham Borough Council and Gosport Borough Council.
The plans comprise up to 100 homes, all of which affordable. There will be a mix of sizes and tenures reflecting the local need, and we will be offering opportunities for shared ownership too. There is a clear affordable housing shortage in the area and these proposals will help tackle this issue.
The site is well contained, situated between the edge of Bridgemary and Newgate Lane East, which forms a clear existing boundary. It is a draft allocation in Fareham Borough Council’s emerging Local Plan. Existing vegetation and the relief road’s acoustic fence will be retained, screening the site from view.
The site is in a very sustainable location, i.e. local facilities are nearby and residents would be able to easily walk or cycle there, reducing the need for car use. We are designing the proposals in a way that underpins this by extending the network of foot- and cycle paths and keeping the vehicular access limited to Brookers Lane. Following close consultation with the highways authority, our road would not link to the Newgate Lane East relief road. Thorough assessments have been carried out and initial results indicate that the proposed development would not cause a detectable change for local road users.
