Our planning team in the north continues to bolster its strength as it welcomes Marianne McCallum into the business as Planning Director.
Marianne joins our Leeds office, where she will lead the coordination of effective business development within the team. She will also play an active role in supporting WYG’s Women in Planning initiative to address the opportunities and challenges faced by women across the planning and development industry.
Commenting on her appointment, Marianne said:
“There is an opportunity here to make a positive contribution to the sustainable economic growth of the north. A key challenge will be to ensure the planning system adapts to the technological, operational and locational requirements of our manufacturing, logistics, and commercial sectors.”
She added: “I am particularly keen to address the planning challenge of ensuring an appropriate balance is struck between competing land uses as the latest version of the NPPF is implemented.”
Over the last ten years, Marianne served as Associate Director at planning and development consultancy Turley. There, she contributed significantly to the delivery of employment land, as well as retail and leisure floorspace that have fostered meaningful job opportunities across the north.
James Hobson, Director at WYG, commented on Marianne’s appointment:
“Marianne is a credit to the planning discipline, having managed projects through all aspects of the planning system from inception to plan promotion, EIA, planning applications, and appeals. She ensures the best outcome for her clients through tenacity, innovation, and team work, whilst maintaining strong positive relationships with local authorities and other key stakeholders.”
