We are pleased to announce our appointment of Ian McGrane as Director of Transport Planning within our Milton Keynes office.
Drawing on his widespread knowledge of traffic engineering, highway access design, and public transport infrastructure design and implementation, Ian will develop our transport planning capability in the South Midlands area. He will also support the growth of our WYG International team, having previously managed numerous and complex transport planning projects across sub-Saharan Africa.
Over the last 20 years, Ian managed several prestigious UK developments as Associate Director for Integrated Transport Planning, focussing on preparing integrated land-use and transport planning studies, as well as accessibility and transport assessments. He has represented a variety of private sector clients, including commercial interests within the retail and business sector.
Ian commented on his newfound role: “This is an extremely exciting time of sustainable growth for WYG, and I’m thrilled that I’ll be part of that journey. I’m looking forward to providing local transport planning expertise to both the public and private sector, not only in the South Midlands area, but across the whole of the UK”
He added: “WYG’s mature presence in sub-Saharan Africa, combined with my pan-continental experience in this geographical area presents another exciting and unique opportunity for me to make a positive contribution to improve social mobility in some very challenging locations.”
Colin Shields, Head of Transport in the Midlands at WYG, also commented on Ian’s appointment: “Ian’s experience has clearly demonstrated an ability to manage complex projects and handle stakeholder engagement across multiple levels, from local authority to third-party consultants. That’s thanks to his deep understanding of statutory highway and town planning legislation, combined with his commercial awareness of the transport sector. We can’t wait to see what he does."
