Carolyn Wilkinson Associate Director - Planning
Carolyn focuses specifically on projects related to the planning of sports and leisure facilities and specialises in the preparation of playing pitch strategies on behalf of local authorities following the guidance established by Sport England in 2013. These strategies include a comprehensive assessment of supply and demand, and a detailed action plan outlining the future delivery priorities, as well as recommendations for implementation through the planning system. Carolyn also prepares sports needs assessments to developers in meeting local and national policy.
Carolyn previously worked for NAA, an organisation acquired by WYG in 2018. Some of Carolyns recent projects include:
- Doncaster MBC Playing Pitch Strategy – playing pitch strategy for a large local authority.
- Hartlepool Playing Pitch Strategy and Indoor Facility Strategy –updating the 2013 documents and outlining how things have changed as well as setting priorities for the duration of the Local Plan Period.
- Manchester Metropolitan University Sports Needs Assessment – detailed assessment of community sporting needs in the Alsager area following the closure of the university sports campus in the town.
- Mansfield District Council Playing Pitch Assessment and Housing Needs Assessment. – Following the preparation of a district wide playing pitch strategy, a specific additional addendum was prepared to evaluate the impact of proposed strategic sites on the adequacy of provision.
