Julie Diamond Principal Planner

As a chartered Town Planner Julie has been working in planning across the UK for over 20 years.  Her experience includes development management, spatial planning and policy development.  This has included comprehensive knowledge of urban and rural planning principles and working on development management, planning policy strategy and enforcement. 

Julie has worked for Allerdale Borough Council for thirteen years where she worked in the production and delivery of the Allerdale Local Plan and was responsible for writing many of the policies which went on to be adopted in 2014. She has also over 5 years private sector experience where she has been responsible for the delivery of many small to large scale planning projects across a broad range of fields including residential, retail, industrial and agriculture. 

 

Some significant projects that Julie has worked on have included:

Predator Experience, Lake District National Park. Live/Work Unit for Tourism Attraction. Appeal Allowed June 2019

  • Preparation and submission of Planning Application.  Liaison with expert consultants in design, landscape, heritage and tourism.
  • Preparation and submission of appeal, liaison with Counsel, co-ordination of Public Inquiry.
  • Planning expert witness at Public Inquiry.  Appeal Allowed, June 2019.
  • Key Issues: Significant local objection, landscape, heritage and local economic issues.

Genesis Homes. North Park, Rheda, Frizington. Residential Development of 47 houses. Approved January 2019.

  • Preparation and submission of Outline Planning Application for residential development at Rheda, Frizington.  The application was approved by Copeland Borough Council Development Panel in January 2019.
  • Key Issues included: Significant public objection, traffic and residential amenity.

Messrs Stamper. Moresby Parks, Whitehaven.  Residential Development of 100 houses.
Approved – January 2018

  • Preparation and submission of Outline Planning Application for residential development at Moresby Parks Whitehaven.  The application was approved by Copeland Borough Council Development Panel in January 2017.
  • Key Issues included: Significant public objection, landscape impact, and drainage and highways matters.

Niven Family Estates.  New House Farm, Carlisle. Residential Development of 480 houses. 
Resolution to Approve – January 2018.

  • Preparation and submission of planning documents to support residential development at New House Farm, Carlisle.  Application was recommended for approval and given a resolution to approve by Development Panel in January 2018.
  • Key Issues: Site assembly issues with adjoining consented developments. Landscape impact, drainage and highways matters.

Harras Moor, Whitehaven.  Residential Development of 110 houses. 
Approved – August 2017.

  • Preparation and submission of Outline Planning Application for residential development at Harras Moor, Whitehaven.  The application was approved by Copeland Borough Council Development Panel in August 2017.

Matty Lonning, Thursby. Story Homes. Residential Development of 69 houses.
Approved – September 2016.
 

  • Preparation and submission of Full Planning Application for residential development at Thursby, Wigton. Attendance at community events and planning committee. The application was approved by Allerdale Borough Council Development Panel in September 2016.
