A multidisciplinary team from WYG secured a suite of planning permissions for development of a new community in Eastleigh, Hampshire.
The outline planning permission for the development to include 1,100 homes was first secured in January 2016 on behalf of developers, Highwood Land LLP.
Subsequent reserved matters applications for a new spine road, the residential phases and public open spaces were granted permission in May and October 2017 with full applications to uplift the number of dwellings to 1,157 granted in March 2018.
Alongside open-market housing, the new community will provide 35% affordable housing, private rented accommodation and an assisted living accommodation complex for older people within a new ‘landmark’ building.
A new local centre will provide shops, a community centre, 2-form entry primary school and nursery as well as circa 2,700 sq m of modern office floorspace.
The new community retains and enhances historic parkland within its core as part of landscaped public open space to include footpaths, play areas and features that will safeguard local ecology and habitats. The project will also deliver an extension and improvements to the Lakeside Country Park.
New sports facilities are planned on land south of Junction 5 of the M27, including a new pavilion, floodlit all-weather football pitches, cricket squares and a new home for AFC Stoneham. A new footway/cycleway from the new community will link Eastleigh with the new facilities and into Southampton along Stoneham Lane.
Our team also secured separate permissions from Eastleigh and Test Valley Borough Councils for new and improved football, rugby, hockey and other facilities, including a new clubhouse at Trojans and Hardmoor Sports Grounds in Stoneham Lane.
