We secured detailed planning permission for a development of 20 houses, a sports pavilion, new full adult sized football pitch, multi sports court, BMX area, new village green, new school classroom and a woodland copse which saw the resolution of a 27 year impasse on a green field site in the heart of East Meon. A very thorough community consultation exercise was undertaken that ultimately led to unanimous support within the local community. This included numerous public meetings, exhibitions and visits to affected parties, detailed liaison with Parish and District Councillors. The project even included an afternoon in the local school explaining the proposal to the school children. A competition was held in the school to design the gates for the dwellings fronting the green and the winning designs were made by a local blacksmith. The project received a community planning award from the RTPI.
