Our transport planners supported Barratt Homes in their application for 285 homes at New Hartley.
The planning application was very challenging with significant resistance initially from residents.
Despite the local objections, the Officer’s Report recommended approval from all statutory consultees, however it was refused permission by Local Members for a number of reasons, including Highways.
Our experts agreed the Statement of Common Ground with Northumberland Council and produced the Proof of Evidence to demonstrate the impacts of the proposed development were accurately assessed and necessary mitigation measures were sufficient for highway capacity and safety reasons.
We attended the Public Inquiry and defended the proposals on behalf of Barratt Homes. The Inspector overturned the refusal and Barratt Homes gained planning permission and also won costs.
