As planning consultants for this project, we prepared and co-ordinated the planning application and Environmental Impact Assessment. We also secured planning permission for the phased development of a residential-led mixed-use scheme comprising 741 residential units and over 10,000m² of commercial floor space.
The redevelopment of the Bromley-by-Bow site is a major component in the wider regeneration of the Lower Lea Valley and is of strategic importance given its location beside the Olympic Park in East London.
We led a detailed process of consultation with the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the Greater London Authority and CABE and a number of other stakeholders and interested parties. This range of stakeholders significantly increased the complexity of the planning process. In response to various questions regarding the proposed layout and design of the scheme we provided on-going advice in order to achieve a scheme that would fit the requirements of our clients and consultees.
We helped overcome a number of other issues en route to approval, including the implications of a failed application on a neighbouring site. To resolve this we maximised density at the site, increasing development potential and profit for our clients.
