‘Northern Powerhouse’ is the phrase often used to describe the future of the north, but what does it mean exactly?
First introduced to the UK in 2014 by Chancellor George Osbourne, it has been used by the government to outline a proposal for boosting economic growth in the northern cities rebalancing the UK away from London and the South East.
Individually cities like Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool are strong but by working together, the Northern Powerhouse provides the opportunity to better connect the cities of the north to create a unified economic area.
