Cote d’Ivoire has faced serious challenges to development over the last few decades, not least massive political instability and two civil wars. These have left the country with weak institutions and poor governance. Improved PFM is key to developing the economy and improving public services. We are supporting the development of good governance in Côte d’Ivoire through the implementation of multi-annual performance-oriented budget planning in line with the new harmonised UEMOA PFM framework.

A key element of our support is capacity development – if the much-needed PFM reforms are to be sustainable, they must be embedded within local institutions. To this end, we are carrying our organisational audits, developing a staff and qualifications framework and a training plan, and delivering training on key aspects of the PFM cycle.
